As a highly innovative and fast-growing industry, IT security is providing important impetus in the Ruhr region. It opens up enormous potential for the region to meet the challenges of structural change with forward-looking solutions.

As part of the "WIR!" program funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the InSicht.Ruhr project aims to strengthen the existing potential of IT security research and business in Bochum, Essen and Gelsenkirchen and to leverage it for structural change in the Ruhr region and, in particular, for the quality of life of its residents.

Which ideas and innovations in IT security should be promoted in the future? With these questions, the project team is addressing not only all those who are professionally involved with the topic of IT security, but also all interested parties who want to contribute their project ideas and suggestions for a successful structural change.

In the concept phase, the InSicht.Ruhr alliance is driven by the three partners of the core project team: the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences Gelsenkirchen Bocholt Recklinghausen, eurobits e.V. "European Competence Center for IT Security" and Bochum Economic Development.

InSicht.Ruhr Workshop on 28.01.2021

Strengths. Weaknesses. Potentials?

Under the motto "Strengths. Weaknesses. Potentials?", the first InSicht-Ruhr workshop on Zoom will take place on January 28, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to approx. 12:30 p.m.

After we have had the opportunity to speak with numerous companies, universities and IT security organizations and further statistical analyses are available, the workshop is intended to take stock of the situation.

True to the motto, we would like to reflect with you on the project's findings to date and discuss ideas for the implementation phase. The workshop is divided into two blocks:

  •         What are the strengths and weaknesses of the IT security location Ruhr?
  •         What do possible project ideas look like that would strengthen the industry and harness its potential to meet structural challenges?

The goal of the workshop, in addition to the development of concrete project ideas, is the joint development of an innovation strategy. With the results, our alliance will apply for funding for the six-year implementation phase to the jury appointed by the BMBF.

We ask for registration until 18.01.2021 by e-mail to Ms. Krause: krause(at)iat.eu

General note: In case of using gender-assigning attributes we include all those who consider themselves in this gender regardless of their own biological sex.
