The Board of Trustees of the Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security (HGI) is a crucial instance for the further development of our research institute. Its members are high-ranking representatives from business, politics, administration, and science, who accompany the HGI in an advisory and supportive capacity and provide important impulses.
The HGI has now welcomed Dr. Uwe Müller, Senior Vice President of the Cyber Security Solutions division of ETAS GmbH, as a new member of the Board of Trustees. HGI spokesman Prof. Tim Güneysu points out:
"We are very glad that Dr. Uwe Müller with his great expertise, especially on the topic of embedded security from the BOSCH Group, will strengthen our HGI Board of Trustees from now on."
About Dr. Müller:
Dr. Uwe Müller studied engineering at the Technical University Bergakademie in Freiberg and business administration and business informatics at the University of Cologne. Directly after his studies he received his doctorate in business informatics at the University of Cologne. During his studies, he founded a start-up in the field of IT networks, client/server, training & custom computing in 1990.
In 1999, Dr. Uwe Müller joined Robert Bosch GmbH in the Corporate Research department. There he led the project "SESAM" Software-Engineering Self Assessment Method, patented in the USA. In 2001, he moved to the Enterprise IT division, where as Director he significantly developed the areas of Quality Management, Application Hosting, IT Archiving, IT Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture, IT Automation & KPI Reporting. In 2013, he took on the role of Vice President Enterprise IT Security.
Since 2018, Dr. Uwe Müller has headed the Automotive Cyber Security Solutions Product Group under the ESCRYPT brand at ETAS GmbH (a wholly owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH). The portfolio includes vulnerability management, penetration tests of all layers, embedded encryption products, certificate management, intrusion detection and prevention solution (IDPS) as well as comprehensive security consulting services, secure coding, cybersecurity organizational consulting and training products. Founded in 1994, ETAS GmbH is represented in twelve countries at nineteen locations in Europe, North and South America, and Asia.
