Professor Dr Gregor Leander is an internationally leading scientists in the field of symmetrical cryptography. He has been at the Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security (HGI) at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) since the middle of 2015. His research focuses on efficient cryptographic processes for strong resource-constrained devices, such as RFID chips.
In addition to conducting cutting-edge research, Professor Leander will assume a broad array of duties in his new role as Managing Director, dedicating particular attention to the Institute’s strategic direction and organisation. He replaces Professor Dr Christof Paar, who holds the Chair for Embedded Security. Professor Paar, who has been at the Institute since its founding, will be available to the new managing director and the HGI head office in an advisory role. Vita: Professor Dr. Gregor Leander promovierte 2004 im Bereich Kryptographie und Kodierungstheorie an der RUB. 2006 wechselte er für ein Jahr an die Université Toulon, Frankreich. Zwischen 2008 und 2012 arbeitete er als Associate Professor an der Technischen Universität Dänemark. Für seine Forschung erhielt er zahlreiche Auszeichnungen, darunter den DHL Innovation Award 2013 und den Deutschen IT-Sicherheitspreis 2010. Seit 2015 ist Professor Leander als Leiter der Arbeitsgruppe symmetrische Kryptographie am HGI der RUB tätig.
