At the Summer School crypt@b-it 2022, all interested students, PhD students and postdocs from the field of IT security and related fields are invited to spend an exciting week getting to know cryptography better.

The Summer School offers a varied program for young scientists: The focus will be on presentations by two internationally renowned scientists in the field of IT security research. In addition, the participants will have the opportunity to work together in the field of research and to investigate different areas of cryptography. In practical tutorials and workshops, the knowledge gained from the exciting presentations will be deepened and implemented in practice. A look at the cryptographic methods of the past is provided by the exhibition of an Enigma machine from the Second World War.

The following speakers could be attracted for the Summer School:

  • Luca De Feo (IBM Research Europe, Rüschlikon, Switzerland) with the lecture topic "Isogeny based cryptography".
  • Jonathan Katz (University of Maryland, USA) with the topic "Secure Distributed Computation".
  • Maximilian Gebhardt (Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), Germany) with the presentation of an Enigma machine

The Summer School is especially addressed to master students, PhD students and postdocs who are working in the research area of cryptography or have basic knowledge to take away as much as possible from the Summer School.

crypt@b-it 2022 is organized by the Fachgruppe Krypto of the Gesellschaft für Informatik in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Alexander May from the Cluster of Excellence CASA, the Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security (HGI) at the Ruhr University Bochum. In addition, the project smashHit, the Data Science and Intelligent Systems Research Group of the University of Bonn as well as Dr. Michael Nüsken from the Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology (b-it) in cooperation with the IACR support the Summer School.

Students, PhD students and postdocs from the field of IT security can register for the Summer School from now until June 26, 2022.

The registration fee (220 Euro) includes the costs for meals and the excursion. Students have the possibility to apply for a scholarship for financial support. More information on discounts, accommodations, and scholarship requirements can be found here.
