Dobbertin Challenge

Since 2006, the Dobbertin Challenge has encouraged students to take on cryptographic challenges. It is aimed at students studying IT security, Applied Computer Science, Mathematics, and Electrical Engineering at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB). The fastest participant who successfully solves the challenge will receive a certificate and a prize of 300 euros, sponsored by the Dobbertin family.

Prof. Gregor Leander, who came up with the idea for the Challenge:

"Prof. Hans Dobbertin was considered one of the best cryptanalysts worldwide at the time. In his honor, I initiated this competition several years ago to engage young talents in the field of IT security who are passionate about cryptography and software. I'm always eager to see who will tackle the tasks and in what innovative ways."

The Current Challenge

We are looking forward to the Challenge 2024!
More information will be available here in the fall.
