Publisher of Well-Known Journals

Ruhr University Bochum has established itself as a publisher of significant journals in the field of IT security, providing an outstanding platform for groundbreaking research. These journals include the IACR Transactions on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems (TCHES) and the IACR Transactions on Symmetric Cryptology (ToSC). The published articles and research findings actively contribute to the exchange of knowledge and innovations within the IT security research communities and beyond.

IACR Transactions on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems (TCHES)

Since 1999, the annual CHES - Conference on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems has been considered a key event for the research of design and analysis of cryptographic hardware and software implementations. As a specialized conference of the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), it serves as a bridge between cryptographic research and engineering, attracting participants from academia, industry, and government institutions.

Since CHES 2018, all accepted papers have been published in the associated journal Transactions on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems (TCHES) by Ruhr University Bochum, under the ISSN 2569-2925, in a Diamond Open Access format. The topics covered include cryptographic implementations, attacks on implementations and countermeasures, cryptographic tools and methods, as well as challenges and applications in the implementation of cryptographic systems.

IACR Transactions on Symmetric Cryptology (ToSC)

The Fast Software Encryption (FSE) conference is dedicated to the development of fast and secure methods for symmetric cryptography. This includes the design and analysis of block ciphers, stream ciphers, hash functions, message authentication codes, (cryptographic) permutations, authenticated encryption schemes, modes of operation, as well as cryptanalysis and evaluation tools. Security issues and solutions for their implementation are also addressed.

All accepted papers from the FSE are published by Ruhr University Bochum in a Diamond Open Access format. They appear in four issues of the journal IACR Transactions on Symmetric Cryptology (ToSC), with the ISSN 2519-173X. To be considered for publication, submissions must provide added value over previous work, either through new insights or by critically examining existing assumptions.
