The Women Professors Forum (WPF) at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) brings together female scientists from all faculties and strengthens equal opportunities for women in research to create the best possible and family-friendly working conditions for excellent research and thus promote the attractiveness of RUB for female scientists. “The Women Professors Forum at RUB was founded in 2015 with the goal to support and increase the number of female scientists at RUB. I joined the Executive Board of the WPF in order to – together with Veelasha – add a voice from Computer Science to it,” says Prof. Maike Buchin, explaining her motivation for her involvement.

The network supports female researchers at all career levels, from students to professors, and does important work to keep RUB internationally competitive. CASA PI Veelasha Moonsamy, Professor for Security and Privacy of Ubiquitous Systems, is also committed to this goal: “As the newly elected member of the Executive board of the WPF, I hope to share the experiences I have acquired internationally to work on measures and ideas for strengthening and creating a better work environment for women professors at RUB.”

The WPF is now a permanent part of the RUB organizational structure and is supported by Ina Brandes, Minister for Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, as patron.
