It's not too late: Those who want to apply for the eurobits Excellence Award 2020 with their final thesis in the field of IT security and have the prospect of a prize money of 1000 Euros now have a few more days to do so. What is the eurobits Excellence Award?
The award is given for final theses which, in addition to scientific excellence, are of high practical relevance for applications in IT security. All authors who have written their final thesis (Bachelor's/Master's thesis) for an institution or company in Germany are eligible to participate.
What is eurobits?
eurobits e.V. is the European competence centre for security in information technology with a strong focus on cooperation and transfer between industry and science in the field of IT security. In addition to two leading research institutes, established companies in the sector as well as young growth companies belong to eurobits e.V., which is based in Bochum.
Who is on the jury?
The jury consists, among others, of members of the eurobits e.V. board and has a broad expertise from science, established technology companies and start-ups.
What is there to win?
The eurobits Excellence Awards 2020 was originally planned as a presence event with presentations of the finalists and as part of the eurobits Security Summit. However, the Summit cannot take place in the planned form this year due to corona reasons. The advantage: The presentations and the award ceremony in the afternoon of December 4th (Friday) will now receive even more attention as a single event. The event will take place purely digitally and will be streamed publicly. The eurobits Excellence Award is endowed with prize money of 1000 Euros. The winner will also receive an invitation to the upcoming eurobits Security Summit, where he will have the opportunity to present his final thesis to a high-ranking expert audience from all over Europe.
What do I need to consider?
Only papers with a letter of recommendation from the supervisor can be considered. The paper to be submitted must have been submitted between January 2019 and September 2020. Applicants must also take the following points into account.
- The paper must be written either in German or English.
- The submission can only be made in digital form by e-mail to award(at)eurobits.de.
- The submission must include the following documents: Final thesis (Bachelor's/Master's thesis) in PDF file format (surname_title.pdf), letter of recommendation from the supervisor
The closing date for entries is 15 November 2020 (Sunday) at 23:59:59.
