For over a decade, Bochum has generated successful spin-offs in the area of IT security. Our track record includes take-overs by Bosch, Google, Rohde & Schwarz and TÜV Rheinland. With Germany’s largest educational programs in IT security, a world-class research environment, and a vibrant start-up and investor community, Bochum provides the leading ecosystem for security start-ups in Europe.

The last IT-Security-Pitch last October has been a great success for all participants. This is why the Horst Görtz Institute for IT-Security (HGI) supported by the WORLDFACTORY, the Bochum Office of Economic Development and eCapital, are organizing a third IT-Security-Pitch to bring university-start-ups and IT-Security students together with potential investors and leading security specialists from academia and the industry.

The Pitch will take place on June 14, 2018 – the night before the successful job-fair ITS.Connect – at the RUB’s Convention Centre.
Young start-ups present themselves to innovative companies and an illustrious jury to take their com-pany to the next level. The pitch will be complemented by academic input and exclusive networking opportunities in the evening.

In this year, there will be an attractive prize at #RS2018 (summit.ruhr/2018/de):

  • lead an open table discussion
  • exhibit at the Startup Expo

Are you a young IT-Security-start-up looking to take your company to the next level? Then apply till 31.05.2018.

The Pitch will be in English; international applications are welcome.

Your application should include:
•    name of the start-up
•    website/URL (if applicable)
•    contact person (mail address, phone number)
•    OneLiner: Describe your start-up in one sentence
•    stage of your start-up (pre-seed, seed, start-up, 1st stage, 2nd stage, 3rd or later stage)
•    describe your business idea (max. 750 characters)
•    introduce your team and your business model (max. 750 characters)
•    state the capital needs of your start-up

A distinguished jury of academic and industry experts will choose 5 to 6 start-ups that will be invited to the Pitch in Bochum. Successful applicants will benefit from the exclusive offer of the Bochum Office of Economic Development to participate in professional pitch training. The pitch training will be based on the evaluation of the individual Pitch Deck.
