Following last week’s discussions on AI regulations, the renowned ZDF Heute Journal interviewed expert Thorsten Holz (CASA PI and Scientific Director at the Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy) on its September 13 broadcast. Journalist Christian Sievers asked him, among other things, for his assessment of AI companies’ predictions regarding technological advances and the associated risks. The discussion also covered the technical background of an incident at OpenAI in which AI agents had left their containment environment.
In the interview, Thorsten Holz advocated for clear and binding regulatory guidelines for the development and use of AI. He emphasized that self-regulation by companies is not sufficient to control potential risks.
