What is the eurobits Excellence Award?
Since 2017, the award has been presented once a year for theses that, in addition to scientific excellence, demonstrate a high level of practical relevance for applications in IT security. All authors who have written their thesis (bachelor's/master's thesis) for an institution or company in Germany are eligible to participate.
Who is on the jury?
The top-class jury consists, among others, of board members of eurobits e.V. and has a broad expertise from science, established technology companies and start-ups.
How does the whole process work?
The jury will select the best participants from all the submitted applications, who will then present their work virtually in a final round at the eurobits Security Summit in early October. The event will be streamed live.
What is there to win?
The eurobits Excellence Award comes with prize money of 1000 euros. The winner will also receive an invitation to the subsequent eurobits Security Summit and the opportunity to present his or her thesis to a high-ranking audience of experts from all over Europe.
What should I bear in mind when applying?
- Only papers with a letter of recommendation from the supervisor can be considered.
- The work to be submitted must have been handed in between January 2020 and July 2021.
- The work must be written in either German or English.
- The submission must be made in digital form only by e-mail to award(at)eurobits.de.
- The application must include the following documents in PDF file format: the bachelor's or master's thesis (surname_title.pdf) and a letter of recommendation from the supervisor (surname_recommendation.pdf).
- The deadline for entries is August 29, 2021 (Sunday) at 23:59 CEST.
- The legal process is excluded.
