Annual Meeting of the HGI Board of Trustees

Each year, leading representatives from academia, industry, and politics meet as part of the HGI Board of Trustees to discuss the institute’s development. The goal is to provide strategic guidance for the HGI’s future direction and to discuss current issues in the field of IT security research.

Meeting on September 9

This year’s meeting took place on September 9, 2026, in the Open Space of the Faculty of Computer Science. Participants included, among others, Jörg Lukat, Mayor of Bochum, as well as representatives from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR), the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), the Horst Görtz Foundation, Bochum Economic Development, and the Max Planck Society.

Farewells

During the meeting, Andreas Könen, former Ministerial Director in Bonn, stepped down from the HGI Board of Trustees. We thank Mr. Könen for his dedicated collaboration and the valuable expertise with which he has enriched the Institute’s work over the years.

Through its annual Board of Trustees meeting, the HGI continues its ongoing dialogue with key stakeholders from academia, politics, and business, thereby strengthening its profile as a leading research center for IT security.
