The HGI - interdisciplinary, innovative & international

At the Host Görtz Institute for IT security (HGI), Research Department of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, currently 21 professors and their working groups conduct research on the fields of information technology and electrical engineering, mathematics as well as economic sciences, law and the social sciences.

Within this interdisciplinary environment, virtually all aspects of IT security are covered. With about 200 scientists, the Horst Görtz Institute is one of the largest and most highly respected university institutes for IT security in Europe. In addition, about 1,000 students make the HGI the largest educational institute for IT security in Europe.

The institute’s successful formula is based on three key elements: world-class research, related study courses and transfer.
